Linux Training Materials Project - Forthcoming Releases
The following list outlines course modules which authors (largely members of staff at GBdirect at this stage), have already committed to write.
- Processes and Job Control(*)
- Shell programming(*)
- TCP/IP and related commands(*)
- System startup and basic configuration(*)
- Software development in a Linux environment(*)
- Web Serving with Apache(*)
- Understand, install and configure Internet Mail(*)
- Essential Linux Security(*)
- Day to day systems administration
- Advanced systems administration
- Developing applications for Gnome/GTK(x)
- Developing applications for KDE(x)
The release order of these modules will depend on a number of factors, not the least of which is a good pre-existing document to work from. Those marked with (*) are already well underway and are, therefore, likely to be amongst the first released.
The vapourware items (anyone fancy lending a hand?) are marked (x). Others will be listed here when we can raise our heads over the parapet and figure out where we stand. Thus far, the effort to get these free materials out is such a distraction from our fee-paying work, that we are hard-pushed to think too far into the future. That said, we will be giving serious attention to suggestions on the Proposed modules page when we do update the Linux training materials road map.
